5 Things is CNN’s most popular audio offering and newsletter. The 10 minute episodes are comprised of a daily news briefing that provides listeners with a quick summary of the top five news stories of the day, with an additional segment highlighting positive and uplifting news stories that might have been overshadowed by the day's more negative news.

Having found success with the format, the network added a third platform when it tapped seasoned anchor Kate Bolduan to lead its streaming show. We worked with Compadre to update the logo and design system, using a typeface with more personality to reflect Kate’s delivery and implementing a system of five layered shapes to represent the stories of the day. The use of white space and simple, high-contrast layouts helps to create a sense of clarity and focus, making it easy for readers to navigate and absorb the content.
